Career Planning Workshop

On Tuesday, October 21st the postdoctoral fellows from the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences (BBS), the Institute for Infectious Disease Research (IIDR), and the Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute (SCC-RI) held a Career Development Workshop. This marked the first workshop organized by the newly developed postdoctoral training program in BBS, IIDR and SCC-RI. It was a full-day workshop covering a range of topics, including careers in academia and government and how to give a successful job talk. In addition, postdoctoral fellows had the opportunity to interact with and obtain valuable advise on "how to succeed" from faculty members. There were 55 registered participants for the workshop including faculty, postdoctoral fellows and senior PhD students. The event was a great success as indicated by the feedback from the participants! For those PhD students and postdoctoral fellows that could not attend the workshop, a resource package on career planning can be obtained by emailing Leslie Cuthbertson.

The event organizers would like to thank all of the speakers, as well as the workshop attendees, for their participation and positive feedback. The success of this workshop paves the way for further postdoctoral training seminars and workshops in the future!
