905 I Clinical Supervision Level I, 7 Weeks

Content:

Introduction to the basic principles and techniques of clinical supervision, including theories, models of supervision, legal, ethical and professional issues.  Theory and skills are geared to individuals who provide therapy supervision in a clinical setting and want to further their development as supervisors.

Objectives:

The student will:

  1. Understand the principles of clinical supervision.
  2. Understand the different theories and models of clinical supervision.
  3. Acquire a basic knowledge of the process of clinical supervision (feedback, evaluation, etc.).
  4. Become familiar with the legal, ethical and professional issues related to clinical supervision.

Format:

Combination of didactic and small group discussion, weekly readings.  The three hours will include a 1.5 to 2 hour presentation by the instructors and one hour facilitated discussion or case study related to the material.

Evaluation:

Class participation and a final integrated assignment (TBA)
