CPD Accreditation Committee Policy Changes

Educational Standards: Evaluation Forms:

All evaluation forms must include an opportunity for participants to:

  • Rate the relevance of the program's content to the learner
  • Rate the educational effectiveness of the presenter(s)
  • Rate the achievement of the stated learning objectives
  • Provide feedback on their perception of any commercial or other inappropriate bias
  • Document what they have learned, become aware of and/or are planning to change
  • Rate whether there were opportunities for interaction
  • Provide any other written comments

Ethical Standards: Disclosure:

All events and programs approved under Section 1 and Section 3 must adhere to the following conflicts of interest standards:

  1. All faculty and planning committee members participating in accredited CPD events must provide a written description of their relationships with members of the pharmaceutical industry and other commercial industry as defined by the CMA Guidelines.
  2. All faculty and planning committee members must disclose all relationships (not just those directly related to the topic or content being discussed at the event) over the previous two years.
  3. The written description of the relationships of faculty and planning committee members must be provided to participants. This must either be part of the written conference material or described in the second slide at the time of the presentation.

Ethical Standards: Unrestricted Educational Grants

“Unrestricted educational grants are sources of revenue provided to physician organizations to support the development of a CPD activities or materials without any conditions or influence from the donor regarding the design, development, delivery and content of the activities or materials.”

These policies would be mandatory effective January 1, 2008, to allow all accredited CPD providers to make any adjustments that are required to implement this policy.
