Education and Professional Standing

Dr. Tavares is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine, and Scientist in the Program for Education Research and Development. He also holds Curriculum Development and Master Faculty appointments with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in the Practice, Performance and Innovation (PPI) Unit as well as Clinician, Educator and/or Scientist roles in Land and Air Ambulance / Paramedic settings.

 

Academic and Research Interests

Dr. Tavares completed his PhD in Health Research Methodology in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics with a focus on Health Professions Education and Assessment. His research interests include assessment of clinical competence, rater cognition, simulation based learning, the development of expertise and paramedic practice.
