Postgraduate

The Division of Emergency Medicine at McMaster offers a variety of programs and opportunities for
Postgraduate Trainees in Emergency Medicine.

FRCP Program

For medical students interested in specialty training in Emergency Medicine, the Division offers a Program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

During this five-year program, residents will develop expertise in all aspects of clinical and academic emergency medicine. The wide variety of educational events, clinical and didactic teaching, simulation sessions and clinical exposure is designed to deliver a CanMEDS based educational curriculum. 

Residents are fully prepared for both the RCPSC examinations and for careers in emergency medicine.

CCFP(EM) Program

For trainees currently in Family Medicine, the Division offers a Program in Special Competence in Emergency Medicine accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

The Family Medicine/Emergency Medicine Residency Program is administered by the Department of Family Medicine. It is designed to provide physicians, who have completed a family medicine residency, with the specific competence to practice Emergency Medicine and the leadership skills to assess, promote, and integrate emergency health services in the community.
