ABOUT THE FIRESTONE INSTITUTE FOR RESPIRATORY HEALTH

The Firestone Institute provides comprehensive outpatient and inpatient respiratory care as the regional respiratory service for the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN).

FIRH has a unique Chest Programme that encompasses respiratory medicine together with affiliated head-and-neck and thoracic surgery services; all are located on one site.

The Institute is supported by state-of-the-art pulmonary function and sleep laboratories, an induced sputum analysis laboratory, an aerosol laboratory, a gastrointestinal motility laboratory, the departments of diagnostic imaging, critical care and endoscopy, and a regional laboratory-medicine programme.

Brantford
Take highway 403 to Hamilton and exit at the Main Street East exit ramp. Follow Main Street (one-way eastbound) to James Street South (at the 9th set of stoplights). Turn right on James Street South and at the fifth set of stoplights you will see St. Joseph's Hospital on your left. There is a parking garage for patients and visitors off James Street, south of St. Joseph Drive.

From Kitchener-Waterloo and Guelph
Take highway 401 to the Highway 6 exit. Turn right onto Highway 6 southbound to Hamilton. Highway 6 merges onto highway 403. Take the merge on the right to 403 Hamilton/Brantford and follow to the Main Street East exit. Follow Main Street (one-way eastbound) to James Street South (at the 9th set of stoplights). Turn right on James Street South and at the fifth set of stoplights you will see St. Joseph's Hospital on your left. There is a parking garage for patients and visitors off James Street, south of St. Joseph Drive.

From Toronto
Take Queen Elizabeth Highway to Hamilton/Niagara. At Burlington, merge right onto Highway 403 Hamilton/Brantford. Take 403 to the Main Street East exit. Follow Main Street (one-way eastbound) to James Street South (at the 9th set of stoplights). Turn right on James Street South and at the fifth set of stoplights you will see St. Joseph's Hospital on your left. From Niagara
Take Queen Elizabeth Highway west (Hamilton/Toronto). Go over the Burlington Skyway. Just past Mapleview Centre on the right, take the exit to Highway 403 Hamilton/Brantford. Take Highway 403 to the Main Street East exit. Follow Main Street (one-way eastbound) to James Street South (at the 9th set of stoplights). Turn right on James Street South and at the fifth set of stoplights you will see St. Joseph's Hospital on your left. There is a parking garage for patients and visitors off James Street, south of St. Joseph Drive.

From London
Take Highway 401 to the Highway 403 Brantford/Hamilton Exit at Woodstock. Take 403 through Brantford to Hamilton. At Hamilton exit at the Main Street East exit ramp. Follow Main Street (one-way eastbound) to James Street South (at the 9th set of stoplights). Turn right on James Street South and at the fifth set of stoplights you will see St. Joseph's Hospital on your left. There is a parking garage for patients and visitors off James Street, south of St. Joseph Drive.

From Dunnville, Cayuga, Simcoe Hagersville
Take Highway Six northbound to Hamilton. Highway 6 becomes Upper James. Stay on Upper James and take the Claremont Access to the lower city. Merge to the right onto the Charlton Avenue exit. Turn left onto Charlton Avenue. Charlton Avenue will take you across from the front of St. Joseph's Hospital. To get to the parking garage, following Charlton to James. Turn left onto James, there is a parking garage for patients and visitors off James Street, south of St. Joseph Drive.

FIRH Clinic is located in the Jurivinski Tower on the Main Level.

Parking – Charlton Campus

Visitor parking is available Monday through Sunday, in the Parking Garage behind the Fontbonne Building off James Street South. It is adjacent to the Outpatient Department. Drop off and pick up is permitted behind the Charlton Ave. building, entry beside the Emergency Department, again off James Street South.

A Visitor Parkade is also available on Charlton Street in front of the Charlton Campus for visitors and patients accessing the Juravinski Innovation Tower. This is the Premium lot. Parking at the hospital starts at $3 per 1/2 hour to $20 per daily maximum for the Premium lot located in front of the hospital.

Due to the short supply of parking spaces, patients are not permitted to leave their cars in hospital parking lots during their hospital stay. Immediate family members of patients who must be in the hospital for longer than two weeks may qualify for a discounted parking pass.

Less expensive parking can be found behind the hospital and start at $2.50 per 1/2 hour to $15 maximum. Day passes, 2 week passes and monthly passes are also available. Parking is run by Standard Parking, which is located on the 2nd floor of the Tower.
