MacBiophotonics: Confocal and wide-field microscopy

MacBiophotonics is an international imaging facility providing access to the latest and best in microscopy, fluorimetry an high content screening. The facility's systems and expertise allows users to push the boundaries of research with novel techniques or improve the quality of data from established protocols. The facility is located in the Health Sciences Centre and serves McMaster, Ontario, national and international researchers. Systems are available for use by internal, external, and external-academic researchers on a user cost basis.

In vivo imaging technology

A bench-top system which can image 3 mice at a time sets the baseline for fluorescence and luminescence measurement.  Lumina II is capable of performing sensitive, two dimensional bioluminescence (e.g. luciferase-based), and fluorescence imaging with light emission measured in absolute units. IVIS Lumina II is supported with an extensive range of accessories to expand the breadth of your application portfolio such as high spectral resolved filter sets enabling spectral unmixing, an expansion lens to accommodate 5 mice imaging and an ECG monitoring system.

This system is housed in the Central Animal Facility.
