MacOrtho is happy to announce that we have received 67 Canadian Medical Graduate and 116 International Medical Graduate applicants for the 2013 CaRMS.
This year, in addition to the tradition ranking of applicants, we will be testing the Computer-based Assessment for Sampling Personal characteristics (CASPer) system for its suitability to pre-screen applicants. This system has been used very successfully to screen undergraduate medical school students at McMaster and we would be among the few postgrad programs using it this year and the first orthopaedic program in Canada to use it.
We believe this is an exciting and important endeavour which will help us with the CaRMS process and ultimately benefit the residency program as a whole.
Interviews will take place on January 31st, 2013 at the Hamilton General Hospital. MacOrtho will be looking at accepting 6 residents for a July 1st, 2013 start.
