After high school Dr. Brett Dunlop completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo followed by Medicine at McMaster University. Dr. Dunlop stayed in Hamilton for his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and undertook fellowships in spine and research in Toronto and London UK. On returning to Canada, Dr Dunlop became a staff Orthopaedic Surgeon at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton.
Dr. Dunlop was the McMaster Orthopaedic Royal College residency director from 1990 to 2000 and the Academic Division Head from 1999 until 2010.
Dr. Dunlop's current interests are in the surgical management of adult back problems, the biochemistry of soft tissue injury and the improvement of timely care delivery in Orthopaedics.
