MacOrtho is pleased to share the new Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation (COF) patient resource booklet “Tips For A More Speedy and Comfortable Recovery After Elective Hip Replacement” authored by Dr. Jack Hirsh with review by HHS healthcare professionals including members of the Hamilton Arthroplasty Group. Dr. Hirsh is the Founding Director of the Henderson Research Centre and was also most recently a hip replacement patient of Dr. Mitchell Winemaker’s who wanted to share his recovery experience with future hip patients.
The intention of this document is to outline what patients can expect in the early postoperative period both in-hospital and at home and to provide tips for a speedy recovery. This would be a supplementary resource for patients to read along with their preoperative education booklets. The content has been reviewed and approved by the COF medical and scientific review committee.
Copies of the booklet are now available in the JHCC Orthopaedic Clinic for our hip replacement candidates.
You may view the online version here.
Patient education resources published by the COF are provided free of charge and can be ordered from their website.
