MacOrtho is very pleased to congratulate Dr. Nathan Evaniew for being awarded a Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Canada Graduate Scholarships are awarded through national competitions by the Government of Canada's three granting agencies, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
The Frederick Banting and Charles Best Doctoral Awards administered by CIHR are intended to provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health related field in Canada. These candidates are expected to have an exceptionally high potential for future research achievement and productivity.
Dr. Evaniew is completing a PhD in Health Research Methodology with a specialization in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics under the supervision of Gordon Guyatt, Mohit Bhandari, and Michelle Ghert. His research and subspecialty interests are in spine surgery and evidence-based orthopaedics, and he is particularly focused on the design and conduct of collaborative randomized trials and meta-analyses.
