On January 22nd, 2014, the Hamilton Arthoplasty Group (HAGrp) donated a large collection of current orthopaedic textbooks and instructional DVD’s to the HHS Juravinski Hospital Library. This donation was made possible through an educational grant received from Sanofi-Aventis Canada, and a generous donation made by Dr. David Wismer.
A multidisciplinary clinical outcomes research group, the Hamilton Arthroplasty Group is dedicated to facilitating education initiatives for patients, learners and staff. The inspiration for this donation was to afford our orthopaedic medical students and residents the opportunity to enhance their arthroplasty-related learning experience.
“We are committed to contributing to the ongoing update of educational resources for our learners by providing access to state of the art arthroplasty and fracture managementliterature” said Dr. Wismer. The collection was welcomed with open arms from the JHCC Library where it will be permanently housed. “We have always strived to provide comprehensive, evidence-based orthopaedic resources and these new additions will definitely enhance our existing collection” said Lisa Battistella, hospital librarian.
Valued at $7000, the collection is comprised of 40 titles including the 2013 12th Edition of Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics four volume set, as well as various instructional DVD’s from the AAOS virtual fellowship interactive multimedia program.
