MacOrtho had the pleasure of hosting Professor Robyn Norton as visiting lecturer for Grand Rounds on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015. Professor Norton, who is the Principal Director of the George Institute for Global Health, delivered a highly informative presentation titled "Reducing the global burden of injuries: what we know and what we still need to know”. She discussed the global patterns of death and disability due to traumatic injury. Her presentation underscored the importance of research initiatives aimed at exploring and understanding the burden of musculoskeletal trauma in developing regions, as orthopaedic injuries are a primary contributor to this growing epidemic. Several small group discussions were held after rounds to discuss continued and future collaborative efforts between MacOrtho and the George Institute.
