Please take a moment to learn about the impacts of violence in our community—and moreso, support the
many community based programs that aim to support victims of violence.
From the landmark global prevalence study on intimate partner violence in orthopaedic clinics (PRAISE) to partnering with Interval House of Hamilton and the HHS Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Care Centre to develop a toolkit to help patients and surgeons discuss IPV in orthopaedic clinics, MacOrtho has been at the centre of research and advocacy to prevent violence against women for nearly a decade. We have also partnered with social workers, psychologists, and educators to teach residents about violence against women. Our current efforts include focusing on violence against South Asian women, Aboriginal women, and women living in remote communities in Northern Canada.
