Resident Spotlight: Patricia Farrugia

Patricia Farrugia is currently a senior orthopaedic resident in the MacOrtho program. Beginning her career in health care as a nurse, Patricia completed her undegraduate medical studies at the Michael G. Degroote Medical School at McMaster Uinversity, serving as Student Council President and Valedictorian. Deciding on a career in Orthopaedics, Patricia has persued several clinical and research opportunities publishing papers in Basic Research Methodology, Foot and Ankle, and on-line textbook contributions. Her current project, Traumatic Urethral Injuries in Patients with Pelvic Fractures (TULIP) is a collaboration between the subspecialities Orthopedic and Urology, examining trends, perceptions and associated injuries with pelvic fractures.

Patricia enjoys spending time with family and friends, and keeping up with her twin girls. Patricia will continue her post residency studies in the Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program at the University of Toronto with Dr. Tim Daniels, Dr, Johnny Lau and Dr. Pradeep Alexander.
