Resident Spotlight: Sebastian Heaven

Published: May 17, 2013

Sebastian Heaven is currently finishing his first year in the MacOrtho Residency Program, having moved to Canada a year ago from the United Kingdom where he received his MBBCh degree from Cardiff University Medical School.

His interest in Orthopaedics stemmed from his work with renowned knee surgeon and former Welsh Rugby International Dr. Stuart Roy, with whom he has co-authored a paper on Oxford Unicondylar Knee Replacement outcomes. This paper placed 1st in the Surgery Category of the ISMCK 2012 held in Kosice, Slovakia. He was also fortunate enough to work with Dr. Richard Evans, honorary surgeon to the Welsh Rugby Union during his time as a medical student, as well as Dr. David Robinson with whom he has conducted primary arthroplasty research. His other interests include revision arthroplasty and periprosthetic fracture management.

Outside of work, you can find Sebastian travelling with his fiance and their newborn baby, religiously following English rugby and losing as many balls as possible on the golf course.
