Dr. Gerard Slobogean and Dr. Mohit Bhandari have been successful in securing a CIHR Planning and Dissemination Grant- Institute Community Support.
This grant will help to plan a comprehensive proximal humerus fracture research program. It is estimated that at least one in three women and one in five men will suffer a fragility fracture in their lifetime. Proximal humerus fractures comprise a large proportion of all fragility fractures and typically occur in elderly adults from minimal trauma. The results from this upcoming clinical research initiative will ultimately inform clinicians globally in treating these complex fractures and improving patient outcomes and quality of life in Canada and abroad.
