Dr. Victoria Avram is originally from Lindsay, Ontario and has been living in Hamilton since beginning her Undergraduate degree at McMaster University in 1993. Dr. Avram graduated from McMaster Medical School in 2001 and continued at McMaster for her residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Avram completed a fellowship in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty with Dr. Justin deBeer and Dr. Mitchell Winemaker. Her practice focuses on hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as forefoot reconstruction.
Dr. Avram enjoys working closely with medical students as well as residents. She is proud to have been recognized by the last two graduating medical student classes as an Outstanding Preceptor in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Avram has an interest in surgical education and, in particular, intra-operative teaching strategies. She has completed research with the Hamilton Arthroplasty Group, and the PRAISE investigators examining intimate partner violence. Dr. Avram also works with the Department of Surgery to encourage female medical students to consider a career in surgery and have hosted “Scalpels and Stilettos” to connect female medical students and surgeons.
Dr. Avram’s husband Ronen is a plastic surgeon at Hamilton Health Sciences and together they have two beautiful girls. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, reading, scuba diving, running and weight training.
