Dr. Nazar Puthukudy is a visiting orthopaedic surgeon from the National Guard Hospital in Saudia Arabia. He completed his medical training and postgraduate residency in Orthopaedics at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE).
His work in Saudi Arabia and India sparked his interest in exploring the causes of injuries that contribute to the growing prevalence of orthopaedic trauma cases in the world. These experiences have led Dr. Puthukudy to dedicate much of his work to reducing the global burden of musculoskeletal related injuries. His current research utilizes the International Classification of Disease (ICD) database, monitored by the World Health Organization (WHO), to track incidences and prevalence rates of musculoskeletal related injuries in order to create and implement preventative strategies.
Dr. Puthukudy is excited to join McMaster as a researcher for the Risk E Study. The Risk E study, led by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, focuses on identifying risk factors of road traffic accidents.
In his personal time, Dr. Puthukudy enjoys spending time with his family, playing volleyball and being an active member of his community.
