Ride to Conquer Cancer in Memory of Dr. Lachowski

Published: April 28, 2016
Last year's start line!

This year Angela Lachowski - daughter of Dr. Richard Lachowski - is riding again this year in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.

She would like to share a message with MacOrtho:

"Dear Orthopaedic Surgery faculty and students, and friends of my father:

Many of you may remember my dad, Dr. Richard Lachowski, who was an orthopaedic surgeon for 30 years in your department until his death from cancer on November 27th, 2014.

I am riding again this year in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer (June 11-12) in my dad's honour - last year my team raised over $30,000 for Princess Margaret Hospital cancer research. My team, Simba's Spinners (named after my dad's puppy, Simba) would like to raise our goal to $40,000 this year!

Please help me reach my goal this year of again personally raising $10,000. This ride is very personal to me - it is part of how I honour his memory. My dad worked as an orthopedic surgeon for over 30 years, and his cancer lasted only 5 months. I am riding also so that others won't have to know how terrible cancer can be.

Thank you so much for any contribution you can make. I know my dad would be honoured, as he cared so much about every colleague, student, and staff worker at St. Joseph's and within McMaster.

Please visit my fundraising page below:

Thank you sincerely!

Angela (Captain of Simba's Spinners)"
