MacOrtho is excited to announce that the HEALTH study enrolled their 1000th patient on February 6th and reached 70% of their enrollment target!
They’ve had great enrollment success throughout the last several months, achieving an average of 34 patients enrolled each month.
HEALTH is an investigator-initiated trial, which began as a pilot study funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in 2008. HEALTH is a multi-centre, blinded, randomized trial that aims to compare revision surgery rates at 24 months in patients over 50 years of age who are randomized to either Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) or Hemi-Arthroplasty (HA). Secondary objectives include comparing health-related quality of life, functional outcomes, mobility and complications in patients receiving either THA or HA.
