On January 30th, 2014, Dr. Bhandari visited the University of Connecticut (UCONN) Orthopaedic Surgery Department as a
Visiting Professor Lecturer. This visit created numerous opportunities for greater collaboration in fracture healing research and global health, and in the promotion of Evidence-Based Medicine.
The aim of this visit was to strengthen MacOrtho’s collaboration with Professor and chair, Augustus Mazzocca. Dr. Augustus Mazzocca is the director of the New England Musculoskeletal Institute and the director of the Orthopaedic Bioskills Laboratory. He is also the director of Resident Education for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and an active team physician for the University of Connecticut athletic teams. Dr. Mazzocca specializes in the management of shoulder and elbow problems.
This visit was made possible by MacOrtho’s pre-existing relationships with Dr. Bruce Browner (our 2013 Annual Division Day Visiting Professor), and Dr. Jennifer Wolf (recent ABC travelling fellow with
Michelle Ghert). To further extend these collaborations, Dr. Ghert will be UCONN’s Visiting Professor this spring.
