The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to welcome Dr. Vinicius Ynoe de Moraes to our team for the month of May 2012. Vinicius is working with us at the Center for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics (CEO) with the goal of developing critical new clinical research collaborations in Brazil. He will serve as a Principal Investigator in the development of a network of clinical centers in Brazil working closely with our research team at CEO in Hamilton.
Vinícius Ynoe de Moraes is an orthopaedic surgeon currently enrolled in his last year of a hand surgery fellowship. Vinicius is currently doing his training in Brazil’s most important health-focused University – Universidade Federal de São Paulo. Vinicius is part of selective group of hand surgeons who treat a vast part of São Paulo’s 20 million people presenting with upper limb injuries (fractures and tendon ruptures). In an outpatient clinic basis, they treat/perform 20-30 surgeries per day due to upper limb and hand injuries. The University’s trauma section is also responsible for most of São Paulo South area complex trauma accidents, such as pelvic and lower limb fractures, where Vinicius did part of his residency training.
He is currently a member of an Evidence-based research team led by Professor João Belloti and Professor Faloppa. This team is currently conducting RCT’s (Distal Radius Fractures, Humeral Shaft fractures, Clavicle Fractures, Metacarpal Fractures, Trigger Finger, Wrist Ganglions) and Systematic reviews for traumatic and non-traumatic health conditions.
