The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to welcome Dr. Jorge Rubio-Avila to our team this summer. Dr. Rubio-Avila is working with us at the Center for Evidence-Based Orthopaedics (CEO) with the goal of developing critical new collaborative multicentre research trials in Mexico. He will serve as a Principal Investigator in the development of a network of clinical centers in Mexico working closely with our research team at CEO in Hamilton.
Dr. Rubio-Avila is an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon from Mexico working at two university hospitals in Guadalajara: Organismo Público Descentralizado “Cruz Verde” Zapopan Jalisco, which focuses on emergency network, stabilization and transfer; and Unidad Médica de Alta Especialidad Centro Médico Nacional de Occidente del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, which is a level 1 trauma centre. In his work as an orthopaedic trauma surgeon in Guadalajara Dr. Rubio-Avila trains many residents each year. He was attracted to the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University because of its focus on evidence-based orthopaedics.
