| Unit 1 : managing information : handhelds |
|
This page, admittedly idiosyncratic, is devoted to handheld computers, tools that are becoming quite useful to students, residents and practicing physicians.
Why get interested in handhelds?
Mobility and the need for ready access to information are key features
of medical practice, no less so for clinical clerks and residents. Many
times each day we look up drug doses, urgent treatment protocols, do calculations
and every day we gather new pearls of information. Clinical clerks the
world over accumulate these in "little black books" which provide
a personal database that augments the information in pocket manuals. Here are some thoughts on the uses of a handheld. I'm focusing on the Palm and related devices as I have the most experience with them. |
