Postgraduate Electives

Electives for internal medicine residents from McMaster University are coordinated through their program.

For external residents wishing to undertake electives in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, the contact person is Dr. Michael Cyr. External residents must submit the following documents to Dr. Cyr well in advance of their start date:

  1. a letter of support from his/her home Program Director that includes dates of the elective, brief goals and objectives of the elective, the McMaster supervisor’s name and verification that the trainee is a registered postgraduate trainee and that the home University will be responsible for the trainee's salary;
  2. a completed Postgraduate Medical Education Application Form,
  3. proof of registration with the Canadian Medical Protective Association; and
  4. if the trainee is registered at a Canadian medical school outside Ontario, he/she must apply to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) for a postgraduate certificate of registration for the elective period. The College application form is available on the CPSO website.
