Research Interests
The
focus of Dr. Devereaux's clinical research is perioperative vascular
medicine in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery. He is the Co-Principal
Investigator of the POISE trial, the world’s largest cardiac
randomized controlled trial in patients undergoing noncardiac surgery.
He is also the Principal Investigator of several other ongoing perioperative
vascular studies evaluating risk estimation, monitoring, and interventions
for perioperative vascular events.
Dr. Devereaux has also undertaken health policy research comparing health outcomes and payment for care in inv est or owned private for-profit and private not-for-profit health care delivery systems. Dr. Devereaux is also inter est ed in methodological research, and he has published several studies and position papers on this topic including proposing the concept of expertise-based randomized controlled trials.
He is also a member of the CLARITY (Clinical Advances through Research and Information Translation) Research Group.
