Division of Geriatric Medicine
Welcome
Welcome to McMaster University's Division of Geriatric Medicine, located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. We are a dynamic medicine subspecialty which works with other medical disciplines to maintain and promote the independence & well-being of the elderly individual.
McMaster University affiliated teaching hospitals (Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph’s Hospital, & St. Peter’s Hospital) and other agencies in the Hamilton-Wentworth Region offer an extensive array of services for the elderly, providing a full spectrum of care ranging from the well elderly to the chronically ill.

Our Mission
- To maximize the positive aspects of aging, to help manage chronic health conditions and to prevent further deterioration whenever possible for all the patients we see and review.
- To educate and train a new generation of health professionals in the care of the elderly by means of the available medical evidence
- Where that evidence is lacking, to undertake research to expand the limits of knowledge in this challenging and ever growing area
Our Vision
In the attainment of the above goals, to always maintain the dignity and diverse needs of the aging individual and their families as a top priority.
