Education and Professional Standing

David Lewis became associated with the Division in 2003.

After obtaining his doctorate in Sociology in 1995, David Lewis was employed as a Research Scientist at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, and then with the Regional Geriatrics Program central as an evaluator and researcher. In both, he served as a health services researcher, a methodological and sociological resource; and he designed, executed and analysed outcomes evaluations.

He was the author of a number of scholarly works, and was primary or co-investigator on research projects amounting to about $3.8 million in peer-reviewed external funding.

In 2007, he moved to a role with the government of Ontario, where his work is essentially the same, but bound by rules of confidentiality. He remains available to assist in projects relating to quality assurance, program evaluation, and research concerning the broad determinants of health. He teaches for the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster, primarily in Medical Foundations 5.
