Research Interests
Dr. Barr’s investigative activities are mainly in the areas of health services and outcomes research. In particular, these focus on nutritional aberrations (especially alterations in bone mass and mineral metabolism), measurement of health status (and health-related quality of life) and economic evaluation of the care of children/adolescents with cancer. These activities are being pursued internationally, in the main in Latin America , facilitated by Dr. Barr’s leadership roles in the committees on International Affairs and Adolescent and Young Adults of the Children’s Oncology Group.
Funding support has come from various sources, including the Ontario Cancer Research Network and the National Cancer Institutes of Canada and the USA.
