Biography

Mr. Lafferty is a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University and current Manager of the Core Laboratory and Blood Collection Team at the Hamilton General Hospital. He is also a Consultant in Red Cell Disorders to the Ontario Quality Management Program – Laboratory Services.

Mr. Lafferty was formerly Chief Technologist/Technical Specialist of the Hemoglobinopathy and Red Cell Disorder Reference Laboratory at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hamilton, and Clinical Instructor and Coordinator for Mohawk College and Faculty of Continuing Education for Mohawk College and the Michener Institute.

Research Interests

Mr. Lafferty’s academic interests are red cell disorders, core laboratory hematology, laboratory automation, core laboratory utilization and laboratory aspects of patient safety.

Mr. Lafferty has been the recipient of the A.R. Shearer Pride of Profession Award, Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science, a nominee 2006 Premier’s Awards, Government of Ontario, and recipient of the Alumni of Distinction Award Health Sciences from Mohawk College.
