It is with great pleasure that we announce
an exciting new educational planning group that is now in place
in the Golden Horseshoe.
This venture is due to the recognition by the CSTM Board of Directors
of the need to partner with local technologists interested in
presenting Transfusion Medicine education to not only technologists
but also to other related members of the health care team.
The mission of the “Golden Horseshoe Education Supporting
Transfusionists” (GHEST) is to “To promote education,
research and best practices in Transfusion Medicine throughout
the Golden Horseshoe region”. We serve the communities
of Halton-Peel-Hamilton-Niagara-Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant. Our model
is intended to be a non-profit venture; therefore the seminars
will be held at minimal or no cost to the participants.
Our intent is to provide seminars and workshops that will enhance
the knowledge, skills and fellowship of the Transfusion Medicine
community.
We also hope to draw on the local expertise of the many talented
technologists and other transfusion professionals in the community.
Any group interested in planning and hosting a future event need
only contact any member of the committee. Our dream is for this
core event to grow and be nurtured by the Transfusion Medicine
community and transform into a Transfusion Medicine Education
legacy to be passed onto others in the profession. New ideas,
new possibilities, the potential is endless.
The members of this planning committee bring with them both Transfusion
Medicine experience and the experience gained in organizing the
very successful CSTM Meeting of 2004 in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Currently the Core Steering Group consists of the following local
technologists:
