Representation
Chief Resident
The Chief Resident in Nephrology plays an important role in the residency program. The Chief Resident is appointed by the Nephrology Residency Training Program Committee annually. This position is held by a senior resident in the program.
The responsibilities of the chief resident include coordinating academic and teaching activities, including academic half days, call scheduling, and representing the residents on the training committee.
Elected Resident Representative
One additional resident representative is elected by the nephrology residents. This individual provides important input and representation to the residency training committee.
Program-Wide Educational Activities
- Nephrology Grand Rounds (Every Friday 12:30)
- Nephrology Academic Half Days (Every Thursday morning 8:00-11:00)
- Multidisciplinary Academic Half Days (organized through Postgraduate Education)
- St. Joseph’s Subspecialty CANMEDs seminars (bimonthly)
- Nephrology Research Rounds (Every other Wednesday 12:00)
- Case-based Rounds (Every Thursday 12:00)
- Medical Grand Rounds (Every Wednesday morning 8:00-9:00)
- Journal Clubs (Bi-monthly) - organized by Dr. Alistair Ingram
Scientific Conferences
Subject to availability, funding is provided for residents to attend a variety of conferences, including the Canadian Society of Nephrology and American Society of Nephrology annual meetings.
