Denise Bryant-Lukosius

As a nurse with many years of clinical experience, Dr. Denise Bryant-Lukosius is well aware that patients rely on nurses to not only deliver care, but to guide and support them through every stage of their treatment and recovery. This relationship is especially relevant to Advanced Practice Nurses in oncology- a special breed of nurses who have extensive experience and expertise that enables them to take on leadership roles in health care teams.

The focus of Dr. Bryant-Lukosius’ research has been on how to best train and utilize Advanced Practice Nurses in cancer care and treatment. She leads this research out of the Canadian Centre of Excellence in Oncology Advanced Practice Nursing, and is sought after across the country and internationally to share her work.

Over the next five years, Dr. Bryant-Lukosius will continue to further develop the nurses’ roles and models of care in oncology in order to develop strategies that address all aspects of patients’ needs. She is confident that the interdisciplinary collaboration that the HSR-KT team offers will advance this work significantly.
