EXTRA Intervention Project
During the 14-month program, EXTRA Fellows apply actively what is being learned from the EXTRA curriculum to a specific evidence-informed team project responding to real situations at their home organization, or across jurisdictions involving multi-site teams and cross-boundary intervention projects. This catalyst for learning is referred to as the EXTRA Intervention Project (EXTRA IP or simply the IP).
Along with the residency sessions as the cornerstone of a comprehensive learning design (that includes health information management support, mentors, organizational coaches, academic advisors, regional mentoring centres, and between session e-learning modules), the Intervention Project represents the main vehicle to integrate and translate the learning from the program into practice.
The Intervention Project is designed to significantly engage Fellows and their organizations in a change strategy supported by research evidence (in policy, program, or administrative issues) and with the full support from their senior management.
See 2012 Call for EXTRA Fellowships (pages 7-10) for examples of multi-site Intervention Projects
