Elise has worked at McMaster for over 16 years and has spent the past 14 years in the academic Department of Pediatrics. Throughout her time at the University, she has gained experience in accounting, administrative support and special project management. This year, she will complete her final credit towards the Human Resources Management Diploma offered through the University’s Centre for Continuing Education.
Currently, in her role as Operations Manager, her time is divided between human resources and operations initiatives. She is responsible for hiring non-faculty, research, and temporary staff throughout Pediatrics and manages staff daily needs such as crafting job descriptions and managing workload support. She is also responsible for ensuring the department operates in a safe, effective, and efficient environment.
When asked to identify the aspect of her job that she likes most, Elise easily settles on the interview process. She learns a great deal from her fellow interview panelists and from the job candidates themselves. She also appreciates the collegiality in the department and enjoys working with people who are extremely dedicated to what they do.
