Dr. Dave Lysecki is an Assistant Professor at McMaster University, a member of the Division of Hematology/Oncology within the Department of Pediatrics, and an associate member of the Division of Palliative Care within the Department of Family Medicine. He is the physician lead for McMaster Children’s Hospital’s Quality of Life & Advanced Care (QoLA Care) program, as well as an attending physician in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Dr. Lysecki received his Honours Bachelor of Science degree from St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. He completed his Pediatrics residency training at Queen’s University. He completed his Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship and focused training in Pediatric Pain and Palliative Medicine through the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children.
Dr. Lysecki joined the faculty on a contractual-basis in 2015 as a Clinician-Educator to initiate and pilot the region’s first specialist Pediatric Palliative Care program. QoLA Care has been active since November 2015, and strives to optimize the quality of life of children and their families facing serious health conditions.
Dr. Lysecki’s research includes pediatric palliative care program development, treatment of complex pain in children, and optimizing end-of-life care for children and their families.
