Subspecialty Program Directors

Appointment

The responsibility for the recommendation of the appointment of a Subspecialty Residency Program Director belongs to the Head of Division of that Subspecialty. The recommendation should be made in consultation with both the Chair of the Department and the Program Director for the Residency program.

The recommendation is to be made to the Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Education for approval of the Postgraduate Education Committee.

Accountability

The Subspecialty Program Director is accountable to his Head of Division and through him to his Subspecialty colleagues for the organization of the residents' rotations. The Subspecialty as a whole, has the responsibility for the quality of the educational experience provided to the residents to their program.

The Subspecialty Program Director is accountable to the Program Director of the major program and through him to the Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Education for the organization, including admissions, evaluations, and if necessary any disciplinary measures relating to residents.

Responsibility

The Subspecialty Program Director is responsible for the overall conduct of the residency program. To assist him/her there must be a Residency Program Committee (see terms of reference).
