Dr. Browne’s research not only demonstrates the cost effectiveness of a number of interventions but suggests that we can capture a return on our investment - in the case of recreation and child care for single moms - in a single year.

Dr. Browne has seen first hand how powerful the economic argument can be having convinced 17 region governments in Ontario to adopt the recreation strategy she so successfully measured.

That said, Dr. Browne acknowledges that when ideology and good economic information collide, ideology carries the day.
