Michael Boyle, PhD is an epidemiologist and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences with associate membership within the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. He brings to the project his expertise in a) the determinants of mental health, particularly the interplay between neighbourhood, family and individual-level characteristics that shape life-course trajectories; b) health status measurement; c) research study design, particularly issues that bear on sampling efficiency, evaluation and adjustment for sample loss, and the generalizability of study findings across diverse samples; and d) statistical analysis, particularly the use of structural equation models and multilevel modeling in longitudinal studies of growth and development. Dr. Boyle is a co-investigator on the NET Grant entitled “Health Impacts of Violence Across the Lifespan: A Multidisciplinary Approach.” He will provide methodologic expertise, particularly with respect to measurements issues.
