Cristina Catallo, RN, BScN is the recipient of the 2006/07 Doctoral Ontario Women’s Health scholars award and is currently completing her PhD at McMaster University in the Nursing graduate program.  Her research includes understanding the process of intimate partner violence disclosure among women attending urban emergency departments. Cristina’s other research interests include risk factors associated with violence, public health interventions related to violence prevention programming, program performance measurement and use of quantitative research methodologies.  In addition to her PhD studies, Cristina currently works with members of Dr. Harriet MacMillan’s research team on various projects including a meta-analysis of risk correlates for woman abuse, and a provincial assessment of health and social service provider undergraduate and post-graduate education regarding intimate partner violence. Cristina hopes to continue her career in academic research in the areas of women’s health and public health.
