Sonya Strohm, BHSc, is an MSc student in the Health Research Methodology program at McMaster University. Her research interests include determining the effectiveness of universal screening in reducing a woman’s exposure to subsequent abuse and in improving her quality of life. She is also interested in exploring the adult intimate partner relations of female survivors of childhood abuse. More specifically, to understand how women are able or unable to establish and maintain these types of relationships. As part of the Violence Against Women (VAW) Research Program led by Dr. MacMillan, she is involved in a systematic review and meta-analysis of risk correlates for woman abuse. She also works as a Research Assistant, recruiting women in Emergency Department settings for the Randomized Controlled Trial of Universal Screening for Woman Abuse.
