Hilary is a PhD Student working on the School-age Kids' health from early Investment in Physical activity (SKIP) study. This is a follow up to the Health Outcomes and Physical activity in Preschoolers (HOPP) Study, which was part of Hilary's MSc work. Hilary defended her Master's thesis in Kinesiology entitled "Tracking of Physical Activity and Fitness in Preschool Children" on August 18, 2014 under the supervision of Dr. Brian Timmons. Prior to her time at McMaster, Hilary completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University. She first became interested in pediatric health research while working on the Children's Lifestyle and School-performance Study (CLASS II) in Nova Scotia, which led her to come the Child Health & Exercise Medicine Program.
Funding: Hilary was funded through her MSc and now PhD with an Ontario Graduate Scholarship. She also obtained travel funding through the Graduate Students Association and CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health. Hilary was the recipient of a MacDATA Fellowship in 2017.Fun Facts: Hilary grew up in Toronto, spending lots of time running cross-country and competing on a synchronized swimming team. Hilary is still involved with synchronized swimming as a coach to young athletes. Hilary likes to stay active by running, swimming, biking, doing yoga and walking her dog, Rex.
